Class of 1958 10x10 Alumni Challenge

Join me in supporting the 10x10 Saxon Alumni Challenge. Your support will help establish South Salem High School as a national model of excellence.

The 10x10 Saxon Alumni Challenge has a goal of securing ten or more people from each graduating class to donate just $10 per month to the Saxon Success Fund. Started in 2019, the Saxon Success Fund has already awarded over $40,000 in scholarships to Saxon graduates and funded the $240,000 Celia's College and Career Center in South's library. With your help, this support for Saxon students can continue. Unlike other booster clubs supporting South High activities, the Saxon Success Fund raises money with a long-term view to projects that will positively impact students now and in the future.

Ongoing connection to SSHS since graduation has provided me the opportunity to not only maintain and build upon decades-old friendships, but to understand and appreciate the evolution of our alma mater. The demographics have changed significantly since we were students, and the needs of many current students have dramatically increased. Thanks to the example and persuasive efforts of friend and former South High principal, Lara Tiffin, I joined the Board of Directors of the Saxon Success Fund (formed in the fall of 2019). I have become acutely aware of the ongoing challenges facing today’s students and existing facilities’ resources paid for by the school district. Even with the newly remodeled South High, there remain unfunded physical and educational gaps, and, opportunities.

The three years I spent as a student at South had a significant positive impact on my life, enabling life-long friendships, preparation for college and beyond, and a treasure trove of memorable experiences. The administration and faculty were engaging and supportive. As a student- athlete I was challenged and yet encouraged at the same time. All of this created a life-long affection for and appreciation of those brief yet so important years.

I would encourage any Saxon alum, or supporting parent, to consider “giving-back“ to the institution which, I trust as it did for me, provided you with truly worthwhile and memorable life experiences. Please join me in donating to the 10X10 Saxon Alumni Challenge!

Thank you,

Dan Moore
